If you have too many to-do lists dancing in your head you may have trouble falling asleep. Too little sleep not only affects your alertness but some research now indicates it may also affect your weight. In fact, it may be no coincidence that as our lives have become more hectic with many of us sleeping less that we’ve gotten fatter. Here are some tips for getting a good night’s sleep:

  • Maintain a regular bed and wake time schedule including weekends.
  • Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before your regular bedtime.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime.
  • Avoid nicotine.
  • Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine.
