Summer is the favorite season of the year for many people. With long days of sunshine and warm breezes it’s a great time to kick up some fun. Here are several ideas to get you started:

  1. Celebrate

Summer is the start of festival season in many parts of the country. Celebrating everything from art in Rockport, TX to jazz in San Antonio, TX and everything between, there’s sure to be a festival that would spark your interest. Click here for a resource to check Texas festivals.

  1. Lend a hand

Local volunteer organizations are always looking for help, and if you are looking for a way to get some exercise and feel good about your effort is it a great match! Volunteering to walk dogs for your local animal shelter or volunteering to help with yard clean-up for local elderly or disabled folks are just two examples of ways you can turn up your activity level and do some good for those in need.

  1. Eat something green

Summer offers an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Veggies like lettuces, spinach, kale and snap peas will start appearing at your local farmers market and/or grocery stores. Take advantage of fresh produce and try new flavors.

  1. Play outside

There are many, many activities to try outside that you may never have considered that cost little or nothing. When was the last time you play croquet or badminton? How about Disc golf, ultimate Frisbee or geocaching? There are many fun outdoor activities that will get you moving without breaking your budget.

  1. Get in the dirt

Remember when you were a kid and how much fun it was when you got REALLY dirty? It’s still just as much fun, but we just cover it with more adult activities. Mountain biking, gardening, and wild grape hunting are just a few things that will likely make a mess – and leave you with a sense of accomplishment when you’re finished.
