My freshman year I happened to take a Nutrition course in college and loved it. It was exciting blending science with nutrition and cooking. You can take concepts from nutrition class and give them a
real application. It was fun understanding how food is broken down, utilized by the body to build and repair, and provide energy.

I changed my degree plan and enrolled in a Cooperative Undergraduate Nutrition Program in Houston. This program allowed me to take the American Dietetic Examination to become a Registered Dietitian. After graduation, I became an Instructor of Nutrition at the University of Texas Dental School for several years. I worked with a Cleft platelet and Craniofacial Deformity team to help develop care plans for children. After that I worked with various different roles including; infant care intervention dietitian, renal clinical dietitian, coordinator of diabetes self-management, and clinical manager for insulin pump users.

I recently moved to San Antonio to be closer to two of my three children while I was receiving treatment for breast cancer. Once I am physically stronger, I plan to resume scuba diving and gardening. Also, I am also excited to start exploring San Antonio and learning more about this lovely city.
